Montmartre is now trendy, this little hill has long been a popular district. Its 19th century village side has not changed much with its low houses and its vineyard. If only one mill remains out of the 12 of yesteryear and its roofs are no longer thatched, there remains a special atmosphere, linked to its past as artists, crooks and poets.After admiring the view from the sacred heart of Paris, walk down the Place de la Butte and enjoy unlimited terraces, restaurants and trendy boutiques on the Butte. Stroll through the pretty avenue Junot and the town of Véron. Further down, you will find boxes galore and theaters such as the Elysée Montmartre, the Cigale, the Divan du monde or the Trianon. They gradually came to replace cabarets and sex shops even if there are still some on the boulevard. From 1880 to 1900, the district experienced a special festive atmosphere: at the Moulin Rouge, Toulouse Lautrec came to admire Nini patte-en-l'air while Renoir, Matisse or Appolinaire stopped at the Lapin Agile.
